ACTION RESEARCH

“Action research is the process by which practitioners attempts to study their problems scientifically in order to guide correctly and evaluate their decision and action.”

                                                            Action research means research in action. The idea of action research was introduced by kurt lewin Stephen.M.Carry applied this concept first time in the field of education. Since this is a type of research as a part of an activity , in order to solve problems related with it we can say that action research in education is the method for improving and modifying the working system of a school and a class room. The principal, teachers, administrators etc are able to study their problems scientifically. Ie. In action research a scientific research is conducted to find out the education of various problems which come across the day to day activies of the pupils,teachers, and educational officers.
EXAMPLES OF  ACTION RESEARCH
Ø To reduce spelling errors in English committed by students.
Ø Improving the ability in map reading.
STEPS IN ACTION RESEARCH
1.     Identification of the problem.
2.     Definig and delimiting the problem.
3.     Analyzing the probable causes of the problem.
4.     Formulation of action hypothesis.
5.     Design to test the action research.
6.     Collection, analysis, and interpretation of action research.
ACTION RESEARCH
Topic of the project                 :-  lack of communication skill of the students.
Background for the research :-  during the modern times it has been observed that
                                                          Students are facing communication problem. The
                                                           Problem is located in standard 8 KPMVHSS Poothotta.
OBJECTIVESOF THE ACTION RESEARCH
 I.            To create good communication skill between the students.
II.            To develop the understanding about the relevance of good comminical skill in our entire life.
III.            To develop interest for making good communication skill.
NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH
                                                       A good communication skill is very essential and useful in our entire life . it provide the general knowledge about the communication language and provide good behavior . students spend most of the time in school compaire to their home. So student’s communication skill depends on their school life. So stuents need good school atmosphere for improving their communication skill it will be make good result in their exams and relationship between others.
ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEM
The causes of the problem may be analysed with the help of the following table.

ACTION HYPOTHESIS
                      Communication skill can be improved by using proper method of teaching and organising various communication development programmes in the school and give more importance to students reading, writing, speaking, and listening skill.
DESIGN FOR TESTING ACTION RESEARCH
Initiation activities
techniques
§  conduct a self introduction session  as a pretest.
§  Teacher should enhance to read the text book by students.
§  Encouraging students participation in all  the school activities.
§  Conduct a viva as a pretest                          
§  Select two students and each students introduce their pair.
§  By providing home      assignments.
§  Arranging interesting games     and provide gifts

ANALYSIS  AND  INTERPRETATION

The table and figure shows that there is a considerable improvement in the communication skill of the students after treatment.









CONCLUSION

Teaching and learning not effected without good communication skill. Communication skill is more significant factors in students life.
                                                       The following are the some of the suggestions to improve communication skill of the students.

v Give more opportunities for the students interaction with their friends.

v Develop reading habits between school students.
